The province is generally peaceful, owing to the intensified anti-criminality campaign of police forces.
This was reported by the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO) here on June 26 during the quarterly joint meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), and the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) held at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center Restaurant, which was presided over by Governor Amado I. Espino III who sits as the PPOC Chairman.
“As compared to the same period last year (January 1 to June 23), the current year under review registered a significant decrease on index crimes,” said Acting Provincial Director Redrico Atienza Maranan.
“This can be attributed to the accomplisment of the PPO against loose firearms, and relentless crackdown on illegal drugs thru the implementation of search warrants and other modes of police operations,” PCol. Maranan explained.
Expressing gratitude to the police forces for maintaining peace and order in the province, Governor Espino thanked the PNP leadership for the aggressive implementation of anti-criminality interventions.
From July 1, 2016 to June 23, 2019, the anti-illegal drugs campaign in the province registered 3,157 operations conducted where 3,390 drug pushers were arrested, while 20, 459 have surrendered to the police.
About 17, 473 of the total 20, 459 drug surrenderees have undergone the PPO – initiated and assisted recovery and wellness program.
Included in the PPO assisted program is the integrated reformation program for drug surrenderers implemented by the provincial government in its Reformation Center in Burgos town, which already served 146 drug surrenderers from Burgos, Dasol, Lingayen, Binmaley, Mabini, and Alaminos City.
In terms of index crime, the PPO noted a significant decrease of 21.90% or 249 this year as compared to the same period (January 1 to June 23). In 2018, there were 1,137 reported index crimes while 888 are recorded this year.

Sto. Tomas town remains unaffected by drugs while Basista is waiting for its drug-free declaration.
Pozorrubio, Bani, Manaoag, San Carlos City, San Fabian, Umingan, Sual, Infanta, Balungao and Binmaley are endorsed for declaration, while Dagupan City and San Quintin are under validation.

PDEA has cleared 1,026 barangays or 80.72% of the total 1,271 drug affected barangays in the province.
Meanwhile, the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army noted the insurgency-free status of the province Pangasinan, which is under its area of responsibility.
It was explained that insurgency-free status is attained when there is a stable internal peace and security where the local government unit and the Philippine National Police acknowledge and accept that only law enforcement operation is needed to maintain peace and order in the area.
The governor acknowledged the support of the Philippine Army, as he asked for their presence in the province even if the province will soon be declared insurgency-free.
