Townsfolk and officials of Asingan expressed their gratitude to Governor Amado I. Espino, III as some 40 men finished a 15-day skills training in masonry and carpentry under the Mobile Skills Training Project (MSTP) of the provincial government.

Jonathan R. Hermogino, 42 years old, who was among the trainees, said: “Kay Governor Espino, wag po kayong magsasawa na magbigay pa ng mas marami pang training at palawakin niyo pa sana at maipamahagi sa mga kagaya namin.”

More than the added tips in usage of tools, he added, this training widened the available opportunities for common citizens like him and for out-of-school youth to have something as an initial job opportunity.

“Sa mga kagaya ko na medyo may edad na at sa mga kabataan diyan, pumunta lang kayo sa mga trainings na ganito na binibigay ng provincial government para magkaroon pa ng higit na kaalaman at mas matuto pa,” he urged.

Trainees received their certificates of completion at the Old Session Hall in Asingan on June 25 during a brief graduation ceremony led by Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) Chief Alex F. Ferrer, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) representative Alex Lapeña, outgoing Asingan Mayor Heidee G. Chua and outgoing Vice Mayor Carlos F. Lopez.

Commending the fruitful skills training project of Governor Espino, Mayor Chua noted that the entire town of Asingan hopes for another batch of skills training that will benefit other aspirants.

The PESO chief, on the other hand, assured that the provincial government through the dynamic leadership of Governor Espino will do its best to further expand this skills training program.

“Umasa kayo na sa larangan ng manpower development at employment ay mas palalawigin pa ng ating pamahalaang panlalawigan,” Ferrer said noting that next batch of training in Asingan will focus on haircutting and beauty care and cookery for women.

Ferrer disclosed that aside from the four existing training trucks, the provincial government is set to purchase two more trucks to have six in total to be deployed in all six districts of the province.

As such, he encouraged the graduates to participate in local job fairs organized by the province noting that skilled workers are in demand here and abroad.

The skills training forms part in the Mobile Skills Training Project of the provincial government launched in 2017 to directly bring manpower entrepreneurship development training of the provincial government in partnership with TESDA.
