LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Governor Amado I. Espino, III led the awarding of P5.6 million financial grant to 33 cooperatives and four micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) Restaurant on January 9.

In his message, Governor Espino said that the provincial government remains true to its vision to provide and support livelihood opportunities to Pangasinenses, especially, through its Livelihood Assistance Program (LAP).

Underscoring the high repayment rate of 95%, the provincial chief executive bared that increasing the maximum loan amount of P250,000 to approximately P500,000 is plausible to happen with Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) as partner.

As such, renewal cycles with maximum of eight will also be expanded to 10 cycles to give way to beneficiaries who are now on their 7th cycle.

Governor Espino was assisted by Provincial Population Officer (PPO) Ellsworth G. Gonzales and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (PSWDO) Emilio P. Samson, Jr.  in handing over the loan assistance to the first batch livelihood of beneficiaries for 2019.

The first batch of LAP this year, aiding a total of 1,142 beneficiaries, is joined by nine seven new beneficiaries and two new MSMEs.

First batch of LAP beneficiary groups this year, includes seven, such as: Takipan KALIPI Association (Mangatarem), Baracbac KALIPI Association (Mangatarem), Bunagan KALIPI Association (Mangatarem), Tamaro Farmers Association (Bayambang), Young and Adult Farmers of Angio Consumers Cooperative (San Fabian), Bagatan Sid-Vil Farmers Irrigators Association (Rosales) and Nandacan KALIPI Women’s Association (Bautista).

New MSME beneficiaries are the following: Meljane Native Cakes (Alaminos City) and G-Five Farm (Sta. Barbara).

Meanwhile, the remaining groups are now on their 2nd, 3rd 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th cycle.

It can be learned that the livelihood assistance program of the provincial government started in 2008 under the administration of then governor and now representative of the fifth district, Congressman Amado T. Espino, Jr.

 

Since the launching of the LAP in 2008, the said program has already released Php128,857,650 million total amount.
