Lingayen, Pangasinan — Governor Amado I. Espino, III urged elders from all over Pangasinan “to continue guiding the youth,” as he noted their crucial roles in the society.
This was the call of Governor Espino during the Senior Citizens Symposium mounted by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) on November 20 at the Provincial Training and Development Center, here.
“Don’t retire from working. The youth today needs your guidance and experiences as foundations of the province,” Governor Espino told the elders.
“It is important that we protect the future of the province by imbibing to them the cause of our efforts and sacrifices which are for their good,” Governor Espino stated.
Expressing gratitude for their love and support to him, Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr. said the provincial government has been supportive of the programs intended to promote the welfare of the elders of the province.
PSWDO Chief Emilio Samson said the symposium included discussions on: Health and Wellness of Senior Citizens, and Roles and Function of Municipal/City Social Welfare and Development Officers, Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) and the Federation of Senior Citizens Associations of the Philippines (FSCAP)
The elders sector of the province is led by two organizations: OSCA, led by Provincial Federation President Cezar Macam; and FSCAP, led by Provincial Federation President Cesar Mina.
