Lingayen, Pangasinan — Cagers of San Carlos City and Urbiztondo town reigned supreme in the basketball tournament for male employees of the 2nd Inter-LGU Unity Games, a brainchild project of Governor Amado I. Espino, III.

San Carlos City won against nemesis Bugallon (52,78) in the thrilling second match of the best-of-three finals of basketball tournament – division I, which was held at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) gymnasium on September 6.

The two teams started on an equal footing in the first and second quarters of the basketball tournament, until San Carlos City ignited a breakaway and sustained the momentum in the third and fourth quarters.

Bugallon team led by Mayor Jumel Anthony Espino conceded to the top team in the remaining 2:01 clock of the second match. San Carlos City won the first match last August 31.

Urbiztondo team, on the other hand, duplicated its feat as 2017 top seed when it easily secured the championship in the basketball tournament – division II after its rival, Sta Maria, did not appear during their second faceoff.

Led by Mayor Martin Raul Sison, Urbiztondo team defeated Sta. Maria in their first faceoff.

Meanwhile, Sta. Barbara and Aguilar towns dethroned the 2017 champions — Alaminos City, and Burgos — in the second edition of volleyball tournament for female employees.

Sta. Barbara outclassed Alaminos City in the highly intense five-set rubber match (29-31, 25-19, 24-26, 25-16, 15-12) of the volleyball tournament – division I held on September 7 at the NRSCC to steal the championship crown from last year’s winner.

For division II, Aguilar town trounced Burgos spikers, the 2017 champion, in their second faceoff (28-26, 26-24, 25-15) to bag the championship title.

Governor Espino will lead the awarding program of the 2nd LGU Unity Games on September 14.
